     Li An, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, said that Cambodia is an important fulcrum country along the “Belt and Road”. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and the Cambodian “four-corner strategy”. China and Cambodia have continued to deepen cooperation in agriculture, production capacity, trade and investment, and infrastructure construction. China has become Cambodia's largest source of investment, the largest trading partner and the largest source of tourists. It is believed that with the continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road” construction, the complementary advantages of China and Cambodia will continue to be fully released. The cooperation between China and Cambodia in all fields will usher in a comprehensive accelerated gold development period and achieve more fruitful results.

In recent years, the accelerated development of agricultural exchanges between the two countries has become one of the important driving forces for the all-round development of bilateral relations. Cambodia's agricultural products are rich in variety and superior in quality. Cambodian fragrant rice and tribute durian are famous all over the world. Kampot pepper, citrus grapefruit, and Kompong palm sugar have successively obtained geographical indication certification. China has huge market demand and advanced agricultural production technology. China has become the largest export market for Cambodian rice for several years and an important export market for Cambodian cassava, rubber and other agricultural products. The complementary advantages between China and Cambodia have attracted more and more Chinese companies to invest in the agricultural sector, and have made positive contributions in promoting the modernization of Cambodia's agriculture, increasing employment opportunities for farmers, increasing farmers' income, and improving farmers' lives.


      "In August 2018, China and Cambodia signed the "Protocol on Plant Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for Bananas in China". Today, the first batch of bananas produced by five Cambodian banana registered manufacturers are about to be shipped to China, marking the first Cambodian export to China. Fruit varieties have opened the door to the Chinese market. This is an important milestone in the cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector. It has also accumulated experience for other Cambodian agricultural products to lose to China. I believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, there will be more Cambodian quality agricultural products for export. When it comes to China, China-Cambodia agricultural cooperation will also reach a new level."


       Chen Qisheng, general manager of China Inspection and Certification Group Cambodia, said the first five companies (Oasis, Longmeida, Longshenghua, Fudi, Sovann Reachsey) who were approved by the General Administration of Customs (GACC) for banana registration orchards and packaging plants.        He said that CCIC Cambodia is more familiar with China's phytosanitary regulations and safety and quality requirements for imported agricultural products and food. In the future, in accordance with the requirements of CCIC Beijing Headquarters, under the leadership of the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the General Directorate of Agriculture, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, we will promote more Cambodian agricultural products, food exports to China and promote trade between China and Cambodia. Cooperate with the work of the Cambodian Agricultural Directorate to give full play to the advantages of technology and regulations, help banana producers to operate and manage in accordance with good agricultural practices, monitor plant epidemic situation, and rationally use chemical fertilizers and pesticides, do a good job of inspection and ensure Cambodia’s exports China's bananas not only meet China's safe hygiene requirements, but also are high-quality, green-friendly health foods.


      Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Wei Shakun congratulated the five companies that have approved the export of Cambodian bananas to the Chinese market. "Through the cordial cooperation between the two governments, Cambodia's agricultural exports to the Chinese market continue to increase. In the first four months of this year, Cambodia's banana exports to foreign markets totaled more than 38,000 tons. It is expected that Cambodia's banana exports to the Chinese market will be no less than 2019. 130,000 tons."

      Minister Weisha Kun hopes to export Cambodian bananas to the Chinese market, which will further promote the production and export of Cambodian agricultural products, and will participate in the development of Cambodia's economy. "I believe that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia's agricultural achievements will continue to develop. In the future, Cambodia's mango, dragon fruit, longan and bird's nest will be sold to the Chinese market."
